Our client is a nationwide provider of specialist design, construction and fit out solutions to a highly profitable market in Australia. They have a track record of successfully completing projects nationwide and continue to reinforce their position as a design and market leader in their field. They have a talented and well-established internal design team of eight currently, creating fantastic workplaces for clients.
Due to a sustained increase in the number of projects as well as a strategic focus on continuing to improve design capability, we have been exclusively engaged to recruit a talented and creative Senior Architect to join the team in a leadership role and take responsibility for the entire design process for clients. This is a full time, permanent role and there is substantial opportunity for growth within the business by creating modern, creative designs for client projects.
Specific duties will involve.
- Provide architectural designs for construction and fit-out projects across Australia. Manage projects across all stages from concept design to full documentation. Ensure accuracy and quality of project designs and outputs for the internal construction team.
- Improve overall design quality of projects to create stylish and functional workspaces.
- Prepare work to a high standard and adhere to all required Australian regulations e.g. NCC, Green Star and Disability Access.
- Internal and external concept development, including architectural plans, floor plans and associated services, again with a focus on quality design.
- Using revit.
- Maintain and develop client relationships. Coordinate and attend client meetings. Present documentation packages for client review.
- Liaise with external consultants, engineers and project managers. Prepare and submit detailed designs to local authorities.
- Mentor junior team members and designers.
The business is well-established and has excellent prospects for the future. They operate in a relatively recession-proof market, have grown from 1 to 8 architects over the last 10 years and are now embarking on a new period of expansion and diversification, opening up new market opportunities. Working closely with a committed and passionate management team, there is plenty of scope to genuinely add design flair to interesting and challenging projects.
This is a key senior role in the business and as such would most likely appeal to an architect with 10 years or more of quality architectural experience gained in Australia. The remuneration on offer will align with your experience with a guide package of $120K plus bonus plus super.
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate.
- Degree or higher tertiary education in architecture.
- 10+ years of quality architectural experience gained in Australia. Architectural experience for retail, commercial, office, education or healthcare projects will be crucuial.
- Proven ability to work with the builder on design and construct projects. Demonstrated capability to ensure projects are accurate and ready to be built.
- Able to demonstrate design flair across projects.
- Advanced skills and experience with Revit.
- Good understanding of relevant building codes and regulations in Australia.
- Keen to work in a busy and fast paced environment.
- Knowledge and experience of Adobe and Microsoft Office products.
- Eligibility to work within Australia.
The role will be based at the Melbourne office close to Southern Cross station but offers genuine flexibility with regard to working from home and in the office as required. There will be occasional travel to client locations across Victoria/Australia as well as weekly working from the regional HQ in Geelong.
