Established 30 years ago, our client is a nationwide distributor of specialist technical equipment to a highly profitable market in Australia. They source and sell vital products to clients which require installation, as well as ongoing service and occasional breakdown repair.
We have been exclusively engaged to recruit a skilled and professional Technical Service Manager who can join the company at this time of continued growth to manage a small but skilled team and take responsibility for managing all service operations nationally. This is a key role for the business and will be an integral part of accomplishing their strategic growth plans. The successful person will be a highly valued team member.
Specific duties will involve.
- Manage and oversee all technical service jobs nationwide to include installations, ongoing service, and breakdown repair work on client equipment both at client premises and in the workshop.
- Manage and coordinate the team (both internal staff and a nationwide contractor network) to deliver quality outcomes for clients.
- Ensure the continued commercial value of the service team within the larger business.
- Ensure ongoing technical service work is carried out to a high standard. Review historical work to find ways to improve.
- Management of parts, including input into ordering and stock control.
- Interact with internal staff and customers to provide service quotations as well maintain clear communication about technical service status/work in progress.
- Maintain clear and complete records of work using CRM system.
- Undertake continued professional development and specific product knowledge training.

To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate.
- Quality technical service experience covering the management of installation service and repair of complex technical equipment.
- Strong electrical capability (possibly even A grade electrician licence). Ideally also mechanical skills and knowledge of electronics and pneumatics/hydraulics.

- We are open to a range of technical backgrounds/capabilities including electrical, mechanical, electronics or pneumatics/hydraulics. This is a management role with a focus on leading the team and managing client requirements.
- Able to prioritise and lead in fast paced environment where priorities can change rapidly.
- A strong sense of customer care and an appreciation of offering quality customer outcomes, sometimes in challenging circumstances.
- An appreciation and understanding of “Australian Standards”. This is technical equipment with specific, recognised standards. Willing to learn these new standards quickly.
- Commercially aware. Able to ensure quality outcomes for clients as well as the continued commercial viability of the technical service operation.
- Experience with tendering for work.
- Ideally living within easy to commute to Geelong. Eligibility to work within Australia.
The role will be based at the Geelong headquarters and there will be some travel to client locations, primarily across Victoria and occasionally interstate.
This is a long-term career role with the opportunity to learn all aspects of these technical products. A quality remuneration package is offered including negotiable salary (most likely in the range of $90K to $120K) plus super and fully maintained company vehicle.
